41 days after the disappearance of activist Sandra Domínguez in Oaxaca, family, friends, and Oaxacan collectives protested during Governor Salomón Jara Cruz's second report. Due to the lack of response from the authorities, the situation led to mobilization, including a march led by teachers from section 22 of the CNTE, forcing the state governor to change the venue of his report to Juchitán.
"There is a failed state in Oaxaca, we continue to demand the appearance of Sandra Domínguez Martínez alive, because they took her alive, we want her alive," expressed Joaquín Galván, a Mixe defender. Marina Martínez, Sandra's mother, again requested the help of President Claudia Sheinbaum to locate her daughter. "We ask again President Claudia to help us find my daughter, or why doesn’t she help us? Is it because we are indigenous?" she added.
Sandra and her husband Alexander Hernández disappeared on October 4 in the community of María Lombardo del Caso. Since then, only their truck and phone have been found. In 2020, Sandra reported on social media that she had been a victim of violence after the current peace coordinator of Oaxaca, Donato Vargas, and other officials used images of her and several Mixe women in a pornographic chat.
The Attorney General's Office of the State of Oaxaca and the State Commission for the Search of Persons offered a reward of half a million pesos to anyone who provides information to locate Sandra Domínguez. Her family and collectives set up a camp in the corridor of the Government Palace since November 6 demanding an efficient search. It was indicated that the authorities lack sufficient economic resources and a reward was requested as an additional measure to obtain information leading to the whereabouts of Sandra and Alexander.
